Anil
Kuchally

Fourth-generation coffee producer. A family agricultural legacy, carried forward with curiosity and purpose.

Coming home

A return to the land.

After studying in the United States, Anil returned to Karnataka to continue the work of his family estate.

The family’s connection to plantation agriculture began more than 150 years ago with cardamom. Coffee came later. Today, Kuchally is a fourth-generation coffee estate, and Anil’s work joins inherited field knowledge with a modern, more measured approach to cultivation and processing.

He sees continuity as active work: protecting soil, understanding shade, selectively harvesting ripe cherry and learning from each season. The aim is not to hold the estate still, but to help it remain productive, resilient and relevant for the generation that follows.

The approach

Quality begins with paying attention to the land, to the harvest and to what each lot can become.

Recognition

Work measured in seasons, and in the cup.

Kuchally coffees have achieved a reported specialty cupping score of 85.5, reflecting the estate’s growing focus on careful harvest and processing. Supporting cupping details are available directly from Anil.

In 2025, during its centenary, the Central Coffee Research Institute recognised Anil’s dedication to India’s plantation legacy.
